OT7 Nationals Day 1 Top Performers
OT7, the premier circuit in 7 on 7 football, kicked off it’s first day of its National Championship in Tampa, Florida today. With a slew of talent at the event, loaded with high profile recruits, players were battling all day long for the top spot. Here are our top performers from Day 1 of pool play.
Jamie Ffrench:
It is well known on the 7on7 circuit that SFE is the place to be for elite wide receivers. This trend has been prevalent all season long as SFE has found success through the air time and time again, specifically when targeting 5-star pass catcher Jamie Ffrench. The 6”1 route runner from Jacksonville, Florida had an incredible showing on Day 1. Across SFE’s 3 games, Ffrench found the endzone a plethora of times. He displayed his elite speed on a deep post resulting in points against Team TOA, as well as phenomenal athleticism and a fantastic catch radius on a fade ball for a tough touchdown catch against Lo-Pro. He practically made a big play every time the ball was thrown his way. As a whole, Jamie looked like the most complete player every time he was on the field, living up to the hype as one of the nation’s top prospects.
Stace Gentle:
OT7 Nationals was full of talented DBs but on Day 1 there was one player that stood above the rest. Team TOA cornerback Stace Gentle had an incredible outing, mirroring receivers all day and rarely if ever giving up any separation. Out of everyone playing on Day 1, Gentle seemed to have the most natural ball skills, attacking the ball quickly and fluidly, resulting in multiple big stops. Gentle is quick on his feet and maintains excellent technique, both of which allowed him to put on a clinic on day 1. The 6”0 corner out of Palmdale, CA was stuck to opposing receivers like glue all day. It’s safe to say no one wants to line up against Gentle as OT7 nationals continue.
Maika Eugenio:
OT7’s brightest star continued to shine during day one of the national championship as he led Lo-Pro to a 3-0 start in pool play. Maika was sensational once again showcasing his elite accuracy and anticipation all day. The way he is able to see the field, throw his receivers open, and deliver the ball on time every single time is uncanny for his age. He plays the position extremely advanced for someone rolling into their junior year Bishop Gorman. The chemistry and connection he shares with his receivers is special and an absolute treat to watch in person. Lo-Pro continues to be a heavy favorite to retain their national title as pool play continues.
Corday Bethel:
Comfortably the top safety of day 1, Corday Bethal was all over the field making play after play for Level 82. One of the best plays of the day on the defensive side of the ball was the first play of the game against Coastline Stars where he jumped in front of a laser from Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight, showing off his elite football instincts and feel for the game. One of the most important traits of a safety is reading the field and flowing to the ball, and Bethal was phenomenal at this all day long. Corday doesn’t have the biggest frame, but his feel for the game and see-ball-get-ball mentality were key factors in keeping the back end strapped up for Level 82 during day one of pool play.
Vance Spafford
One of the most fun players on the circuit to watch, Vance was in his bag once again during the first round of pool play. Scoring 5 touchdowns on the day in only 2 games for Cali Power, Vance continues to be a quarterback’s best friend no matter who’s throwing him the ball. Possessing elite route running, fantastic hands, and the alpha dawg mentality you love to see in a true WR1, it’s no surprise that he went from 0 stars and virtually no collegiate attention to a 4-star prospect with offers from Oregon, Washington, Auburn, and several other power 4 schools. Spafford’s stock has been soaring in the spring and there’s no bigger stage than the national championship to put every coach on notice for one of the biggest dawgs in the 2026 class.
Others to Watch
Devin Sanchez:
The top-ranked corner in the country introduced Tampa Bay to Sanchez Island. Devin was a shadow for all receivers he faced on day 1, as his athleticism and sound technique were on display today as he made a high-flying interception against Team Toa.
Sebastian Circo:
The DEFCON1 signal caller won the Dimes or Bust challenge on Thursday and then was dialed in on Friday while looking extremely calm, cool, and collected. Originally from Nebraska, he transferred down to Western in Ft. Lauderdale for “tougher competition”. That’s something you love to hear from your QB1, and Circo was on point delivering darts and dimes to his fellow South Florida receivers.
Tristan Keys:
Tristan Keys has garnered the name “Baby DK” for a reason. His elite blend of size and speed set him apart from the competition, resulting in a very successful Day 1 of OT7 nationals.
Devontae Grant & Jermichael Gillis:
The entirety of the Team TOA secondary was making big plays on Day 1 and both Devontae Grant and Jermichael Gillis had great outings, making multiple contributions as the games progressed.
Nikko Boncore and Dezmen Roebuck:
Nikko Boncore and Dezmen Roebuck were arguably the best 1-2 receiving punch on Day 1. Boncore was one of the most dangerous players in the open field today and Roebuck made plays left and right, resulting in a dangerous Tuscon Turf passing game.
