OT7 Pool Play Day 2

Pool play wrapped up on Saturday the sun wasn’t the only one shining bright in Tampa. It was another scorching day on the field filled with a fantastic round of matchups throughout the entire day that kept everybody on the edge of their seats, as it seemed like nearly every game came down to whoever had the ball last.

Here are some more of our top performers to conclude a dazzling day 2 in pool play

Vance Spafford

There may not have been a player who made as good of a case for our Tournament MVP title as Spafford. The 2026 Mission Viejo receiver saw his stock jump in an absurd fashion this off-season, and every event he’s shown up at, he makes it more & more clear why. Spafford has been putting on a show in the 2 days of competition at OT7 Nationals, frequently creating separation and running across the middle of the field, finding a soft spot in a defense, or using his 10.69 100-meter speed to fly by defenders. He always seems to know what he wants before a play and has a feel from the game that allows him to take control and get just that, play after play. His connection with his 7 on 7 quarterback, who is also his high school quarterback, allows for Spafford to be in the right place at all times, and this has resulted in a bunch of big plays from the pair throughout the weekend. Spafford is certainly stamping himself as one of the most talented wideouts in the Class of ‘26.

Devin Sanchez:

The nation’s top corner prospect in the 2025 class was flexing his muscles today as he looked a little more comfortable and settled in. Not to say he played poorly at all in day one, but in the second round of games, Sanchez looked absolutely dominant at times and opposing quarterbacks wouldn’t even look toward that side of the field. And whenever quarterbacks would test him, his 6”2 frame certainly showed as he kept up and made 2 very difficult interceptions where he did a masterful job laying back and baiting the throw knowing he was in the perfect position all along. He won countless reps in man, zone, press, whatever SFE called Sanchez was dialed in all day. He has fantastic footwork and even though he carries a tall frame he is able to stay low, flip his hips, and mirror any receiver to stay in phase no matter which 4 or 5 star was on the other side. The Ohio State commit made a ton of flashy plays today, which is always nice for corners because so many times at the DB position, the myriad of great reps you have where you lock down a side of the field and don’t even see any action goes unnoticed and unmentioned. There’s a reason Sanchez is rated as the top player at one of the most desirable positions in the sport, where a true shutdown corner will always provide a massive advantage.

Donovan Olugbode

The IMG Academy product reminded the circuit that Jonah Smith and Madden Williams aren’t the only elite receiver prospects on the Trillion Boys. At times it appeared that Don was carrying Trilly’s offense as he was peppered with target after target and the reliable route runner demonstrated strong hands with unbelievable YAC ability. In the tight field of 7on7, it’s much harder to break away from defenders and go for a long touchdown after the catch, but Donovan showed off his excellent vision and crafty quickness in the open field while taking a bevy of short routes the distance, evading defenders and leaving them in the dust. Olugbode is a big-bodied and strong-framehand catcher who will make his money on the boundary at the next level. On the mental side, Donovan believes he’s the best player on the field every single rep and he carries himself accordingly. In a tournament filled to the brim with a Who’s Who of 4 & 5 star receivers, Don showed the country Saturday why he should be regarded as one of the nation’s biggest X factors for a collegiate offense in the near future.

Malachi Toney

The young receiver was far and away the smoothest route runner at the event & continues to prove why he has been a highly touted wideout since early last year. In each event we’ve been at, Toney has impressed with a knack for beating defenders one-on-one and making incredible catches through tough defense. The crafty wideout is able to use his change speed and get in & out of breaks quicker and smoother than anyone we’ve had to chance to watch. He and TCU Commit Ty Hawkins seem to have a lot of chemistry & he’s seemed to operate as a big play threat, and a safety blanket for the offense. Toney has been doing his part to help Raw Miami win some tough games over the weekend, and we’re excited to see how he continues to build on a strong 2 days as bracket play approaches.

Devontae Grant

The physical DB out of Orlando, Florida has had a very productive two days on the defensive backend at the OT7 National. Grant is a DB with great hip fluidity and great ball skills that allowed for him to be in on several pass breakups. Grant was mostly working as a nickel player, which is incredibly difficult to play man as it is, and practically X’ing out the receiver that would line up across from him. In the two days of competition, he has shown a lot of promise and found a way to separate himself in an extremely elite group of DB’s in Team TOA.

Deuce Knight:

On Day 2 of OT7 Nationals Deuce Knight was firing on all cylinders. The Notre Dame commit was dealing all day, uncorking beautiful touchdown passes early and often. Knight undoubtedly exhibited the best ball placement out of any quarterback today. Whether it was a short pass, intermediate pass, or deep ball Deuce was able to place the ball out of harm’s way and into the hands of his receivers. He also displayed excellent velocity on a number of passes between swarming defenders. As a whole Deuce had an excellent showing on Day 2, resulting in a 2-1 record and a huge upset against RAW Miami as Duece and the Coastline Stars now gear up for elimination play tomorrow.

Christian Neptune:

A name that was widely unknown on the 7 on 7 circuit coming into nationals was Christian Neptune. That changed today when the 5”11 pass catcher out of Cantonment, Florida put himself on the map early on Day 2. He was constantly open and proved to be Coastline’s top receiving threat with Tristan Keys absent from the field. Neptune was very elusive with the ball in his hands and had a knack for finding the endzone as he was able to hit paydirt multiple times throughout pool play. Neptune and his QB Deuce Knight were a lethal connection on Day 2 and the talented receiver was able to prove that he can be a massive factor in the Coastline passing game, regardless of who else is on the field.

Honorable Mentions:

Jamie Ffrench:

Jamie continued his elite play into Saturday making more sensational grabs that just seem like a routine for him now on the circuit. His ease to make ridiculous catches is just uncanny and one would surmise that it’s almost easier to go up with one hand than two at this point. Ffrench continues to make a strong argument that he should be the top receiver in another loaded group of wideouts for the 2025 class.

Dezmen Roebuck:

After a phenomenal showing on Day 1 Roebuck solidified himself as one of the best receivers at OT7 Nationals with a great Day 2 performance. Roebuck was frequently making plays including a touchdown in which he climbed the ladder over two defenders for the score. Roebuck continued to show his well-rounded game and looks to be in for a big Day 3 to conclude the tournament.

Kaina Watson:

Lo-Pro is an offensive powerhouse every time they step on the field and today that reality came to fruition largely due to Kaina Watson. The talented receiver was making play after play on Day 2, including a plethora of scores as Lo-Pro went undefeated on the day. The Bishop Gorman receiver was excellent after the catch, displaying elite top-end speed and elusiveness. Watson proved to be a dominant threat for the Lo-Pro passing attack.

Mark Bowman:

A 6”5 Tight End that can move like a slot receiver is undoubtedly nightmare fuel for opposing defenses. Luckily for California Power, Mark Bowman provided them with this advantage in a phenomenal Day 2 performance. The Mater Dei pass catcher has been arguably the best redzone threat at OT7 Nationals. It seemed as if every time Cali-Power was knocking on the door number 19 concluded the drive with 7 points. Bowman possesses an exceptional blend of size and athleticism that makes him stand out from the competition.

Corday Bethel:

On Day 1 Corday Bethel was the best safety at OT7. This trend continued today as Bethel was patrolling the skies all day for Level 82. Bethel was able to make a play on the ball multiple times a game practically every time he saw the field. His mixture of instincts and range spelled trouble for opposing offenses again on Day 2. Bethel’s ability to make plays from sideline to sideline should make him a hot commodity going into next season as the talented ballhawk looks to further his success.

Luke Fahey:

California Power QB Luke Fahey had a dominant outing on Day 2. The talented gunslinger seemed to be the most mentally sound QB during pool play. He constantly made the right choice, never putting the ball in danger and maintaining a high degree of calmness under pressure. He has all the mental and physical tools of a great quarterback and he will likely continue to shine as Cali-Power fights for the national title on Day 3.

Ja’kayden Ferguson

The biggest moment so far of the entire weekend, and perhaps the entire season, came when Ja’kayden Ferguson made one the best catches you will ever see. That phrase gets thrown out a ton nowadays, but the play the 2025 3-star from Texas made would have made Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr. proud. Ferguson wasn’t just a one-trick pony, as he came up big for trilly numerous times, including another touchdown against Midwest Boom in one of the most electrifying games of day 2.

Willie Anderson

Defcon1 won a thrilling shootout against crosstown rival SFE, as the two south florida teams always put on a show when they get together. Willie Anderson was huge in that finding the endzone a handful of times leading his team to a wild upset to close out the night. Willie is a shifty receiver who can be used all over the field and could see a ton of targets during bracket play as the games get bigger with each win. It seemed the higher the stakes got the bigger the catch radius got for Anderson as he and Sebastian Circo were in perfect sync for the majority of the day.
